Counseling in Schools
Counseling in Schools (CIS), a non-profit 501(c)3 community-based organization, supports students at risk by providing quality counseling services in New York City public schools and community settings. Through the work of our more than 100 clinical psychologist and certified social workers, we help children develop the social and emotional literacy skills needed to thrive in schools and in their communities. We also provide targeted programs to administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, and other support service providers who comprise the school community.
Frequent societal crises have created additional stress for many students and their families, resulting in greater demand for CIS services. CIS has quadrupled in size since its inception. We remain committed to our mission and have demonstrated our ability to meet the growing demand for our services without compromising quality.
The value of CIS initiatives is recognized and supported by the New York City Department of Education, United States Federal Emergency Management Association, and the Office of the Mayor of the City of New York.
